  1. thanks for the information, enjoying the mk II. Sure, I would probably have got quicker focus on a DSLR, but the controls feel great and it's small enough to take almost anywhere.

  2. So, this is all fine and good, but oh my god, what is the green grid which shows up when I try to change my functions on the camera? Actually, it would be awesome if you would not assume that everyone knows how to use the functions on the camera. For instance, what do all of the abbreviations mean? MF? Single AF? What do those things even mean and how do I access them?

  3. Thank you so much for this tutorial! Just picked up a used Em10 with 14-42 ez kit lens and the 40-150 telephoto for $300 in mint condition. This is my first mirrorless/ micro 4/3 and so far I'm impressed! Can't wait to get some good glass and really see what this camera can do.

  4. Great tutorial, I have a question. When I select Sequential H Mode, I take a few photos and then try to change it back to single shooting or another mode it won't let me select the button in the menu? Is there a reason.for this? Thanks

  5. An update for the E-M10ii and/or E-M10iii would be greatly appreciated. Also, adding the optional grip available from Olympus really helps in improving the handling of these cameras when using heavier lenses such as the 12-40 Pro and 75-300 zoom. I keep the grip on my M10 all the time and have ordered one to go with the M10ii that I just ordered!

  6. My olympus refuses to focus on anything with my f2.8 12-40mm lens and it also has issues with my 75-300mm lens. the reticle or crosshairs just went missing one day. ive looked it up but no one seems to know whats wrong. please help!

  7. OMG! What an awesome instructional video! I understand so much more about my OMD EM10 now. Believe or not, I have had my camera for 2 years and did not know it could do all the things you have shown. I may never go back to automatic mode again 🙂
    Thank you so much!

  8. Well well, although this video was from 3 years ago and i just got my Mark 3 today and still find the info here very useful! It's very much like my first camera anyway. The dials and function might just changes a bit but to a newbie like me they all seems still the same. Only finds that this camera were quite easy to use for a beginner like me.

  9. An excellent tutorial. Thank you. I watched it in two sittings fumbling with my camera, but was able to follow along despite my butter fingers. The one thing I wish had been covered was panoramic shots. I can't seem to get them right and its probably a whole lot easier than I have made it.

  10. Tony I've watched this tutorial a couple of times and found it really useful so thanks for that… I have to say though that I was taking a snack eating porridge when you explained how to silence the 'Beep' It was a hilarious moment causing a minor eating malfunction… Great work you do really seem to enjoy your work!

  11. Thank you. I have noticed quite a few interface features have changed in Mark III, but still, thank you for this walkthrough, I finished it with the newly purchased gear.

  12. Excellent tutorial for my new E-M10. I have a Mark II, but almost all seems to apply.
Have relied on your videos since you first guided me through my D5300 plus lens & accessories recommendations.
Northrup remains my go-to source for all things photographic.
And yes, I bought the book.

  13. Thank you SO much for this. I've had this camera for nearly two years and I've learned more in one hour than in the whole time I was trying to get my head around the semi-useless camera manual. Great stuff, thanks.
