I think the thread on osmo on the side is to mount additional accessories more comfortably. Specially if you have a shotgun mic for vlogging. I used Beholder DS1 for my Sony Cameras they also put a thread at the bottom to mount it on tripod. Very handy at many situations.

You can buy an adapter for your GoPro also, I love the smooth Q, I was able to get it on sale for $80 usd(you Canuck) lol… Kind of salty tho about the smooth 4 🙄

Hey Peter. Do you have the Osmo 2 now? I got it the other week. It's got a regular tripod mount on the bottom. Also lighter. I'm still learning how to use it properly 🙂

That's funny I received my smooth Q today and it's freaking amazing how stable videos i can make!! I still have to play with it and learn it. But it's already fantastic and the size it's totally win that's why I did not purchase Osmos that was only $40 more
